The result: a soft generous wine with vibrant blue/red colour, cassis, blackberry jelly, pencil shavings, ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit flavours, dried herbs, hints of cardamom, cinnamon and black tea leaf. Youthful, the palate is rounded and full, with excellent depth, balance and richness. Black forest chocolate aromas intertwined with drying silky tannins. Best decanted, the wine drinks well now; but has the pedigree to age 15 years plus.

Cabernet sauvignon (56 percent), malbec (23 percent) and merlot (21 percent) from the estate’s vineyard in the heart of Gimblett Gravels. Each variety was handpicked and fermented separately in small three-tonnes open fermenters. The wine was aged in a mix of French (90 percent) and American (10 percent) oak barriques. A dense and fruity red from a top vintage. Flavours suggest cassis, plum, cedar and tobacco. A seriously complex wine with impressive cellaring potential. This has elegance on a grand scale.
