What the winery says about the Heron's Flight Dolcetto 2011

Rarely grown outside its native Italy, we have been growing Dolcetto since 2000. Dark ruby colour, full of almonds and cherries on the nose and palate, and surrounded by firm tannins like Italy's best examples, this wine is a delight. Our unplugged Dolcetto is made in the typical Italian style with little oak and full fruit flavours. To be enjoyed now and over the next several years.

What we say . . . .

Heron's Flight have made a very good reputation out of producing other red varities in New Zealand. Dolcetto is normally found in northern Italy and only 2 hectraes of Dolcetto vines exist in the whole of NZ. Designed to be a summer red, light in tannic structure with soft cherry fruits with a touch of oak coming through. Drink it young and can happily chill for an hour and serve on a hot summer's day.
