A normal warm dry summer followed creating the distinctive Escarpment style showing complexity, attractive texture and the perfect mix of black, red and green fruit flavours for which Pinot Noir is celebrated.
2009 has produced excellent wines throughout NZ and Pinot Noir from Martinborough is looking exceptional. Escarpment focus more on the Burgundy style of Pinot Noir: lighter, softer with herbacious characters and earthiness. The palate has ripe savoury cherry with a touch of spice and smooth tannins. Aged in French oak for 11 months, 30% new.
