The palate is texturally driven with a richness and density of flavour showing sweet succulent fruit, exotic spice and an aromatic dried herb aspect making for a layered, complex wine. The power and weight are held in check by the fine silky tannins which provide a solid backbone. This wine is mouth-filling, complete, and harmonious with a long, complex
finish.
Carrick focus on quality above all else - for example, this wine is matured for 11 months in French oak (30% is new). The nose is full of ripe plums, cassis & spice. The wine is still closed but has huge potential. The palate reflects all these notes. The oak is pronounced with a cinnamon, clove & dark chocolate, herbal undertow. Everything is tied together by minerality. 2009 was a gloriously sumptious year & this opulent beauty is one of the best, very much a staff favourite.
